Thimery Wimmer

Thimery Wimmer is the Chief Executive Officer & Advocate as well as one of the passionate co-founders of Roots of Resilience Collective, dedicated to empowering Black communities through transformative social justice initiatives. With a strong background in child welfare, she previously served as the Project Director for the Tribal TANF Child Welfare (TTCW) Grant with the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, where she spent five impactful years in various roles focused on community upliftment and systems enhancement.

Currently, Thimery works with local Tribal communities in other roles, offering technical assistance, shaping policy, and fiercely advocating for survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual assault within the Native community.

Thimery was previously a mentored professor at her alma mater, Prescott College where she taught Critical Disabilities Studies, fostering the next generation of advocates and leaders.

Holding a master's degree in Critical Psychology and Human Services and being a Certified Trauma Specialist, Thimery's mission centers on driving actionable change for the Black community as the Head of Historical Trauma and Reconciliation within the Roots of Resilience Collective. She has previously shared her insights as a panelist for the Administration for Children and Families and has been a featured speaker professionally at various Grantee Sharing Events. Additionally, as co-host of the podcast "Making The Table: A Black Women Podcast", she engages in powerful conversations about equity, inclusion, and the lived experiences of Black Women.

While Thimery has found fulfillment in supporting various marginalized communities, her deepest passion lies in uplifting her own. Recognizing a gap in meaningful opportunities to give back to the Black community, she took the initiative to be the change she wanted to see. This led her to co-found the Roots of Resilience Collective, a project designed to foster impactful support for her community. Thimery's vision is to create lasting change for future generations of Black children and families, ensuring they have the resources and opportunities to thrive.

In her personal time, Thimery cherishes moments with her family, immerses herself in reading, travels to explore diverse cultures, creates art, crafts, and cares for her three cats and three dogs. Her unwavering commitment to justice and community empowerment makes her a true advocate for Black voices.
